Two-factor authentication (2FA) is an essential measure for protecting your Binance account, and it's strongly recommended for all users. The first thing to do after registering on Binance is to set up 2FA. Download the Binance APP for easier setup on your phone.
What Is Two-Factor Authentication
Two-factor authentication means that after entering your password, you also need to provide a second form of identity verification. Even if your password is leaked, no one can log in to your account without the second factor.
2FA Methods Supported by Binance
- Google Authenticator: Most recommended, generates dynamic verification codes
- SMS verification: Receive verification codes via text messages
- Email verification: Receive verification codes via email
It's recommended to enable at least both Google Authenticator and SMS verification.
Steps to Enable 2FA
- Open the Binance APP and go to your profile
- Tap on "Security" settings
- Select the verification method you want to enable
- Follow the prompts to complete the binding
Login Verification Process
After enabling 2FA, each login requires:
- Enter your email/phone number and password
- Enter the dynamic verification code from Google Authenticator
- Some operations (such as withdrawals) require additional SMS or email verification
Backups Are Important
When setting up Google Authenticator, be sure to back up the secret key. If you lose or replace your phone without a backup, you won't be able to log in to your account, and the recovery process can be quite troublesome.
