Google Authenticator is the most secure two-factor verification method, generating a new dynamic code every 30 seconds. After registering on Binance, be sure to bind Google Authenticator. Download the Binance APP to complete the binding in settings.
Preparation
First, download the Google Authenticator app on your phone:
- Android: Search for "Google Authenticator" on Google Play
- iPhone: Search for "Google Authenticator" in the App Store
Binding Steps
- Open the Binance APP and go to "Security Settings"
- Find "Google Authenticator" and tap "Enable"
- Binance will display a QR code and a secret key string
- Be sure to back up this secret key first -- write it down on paper and store it safely
- Open the Google Authenticator app and tap the "+" icon
- Select "Scan QR code" and scan the QR code shown by Binance
- Google Authenticator will begin displaying a 6-digit dynamic code
- Enter the code in Binance to complete the binding
Secret Key Backup
The secret key is the only way to restore your Google Authenticator. It's recommended to:
- Write it down on paper by hand and keep it in a safe place
- Do not save screenshots on your phone
- Store multiple copies in different secure locations
What If You Switch Phones
If you have the backup secret key, manually enter it in the Google Authenticator app on your new phone to restore access. If you don't have the backup, you'll need to contact Binance customer service for an authenticator reset, which may take several days.
