Getting Started with Futures Trading for Beginners

A beginner-friendly tutorial for futures trading, from activation to your first trade.

While futures trading carries risks, learning the basics can help you better capture market opportunities. After registering on Binance and completing verification, you can activate futures trading. Download the Binance APP to trade on your phone too.

Activating Futures Trading

  1. Log in to your Binance account
  2. Go to the "Futures" page
  3. Read and agree to the futures trading agreement
  4. Pass a simple risk assessment quiz
  5. Futures functionality is now activated

Transferring Margin

Futures trading requires a separate Futures wallet:

  1. Find the "Transfer" function in the APP
  2. Transfer USDT from the Spot wallet to the Futures wallet
  3. Transfers are instant and free

Your First Trade

  1. Go to the futures trading page
  2. Select a trading pair (BTC/USDT recommended)
  3. Set the leverage (2-3x recommended for beginners)
  4. Choose long or short
  5. Select market or limit order
  6. Enter the position amount
  7. Set stop-loss and take-profit (very important)
  8. Confirm the order

Essential Rules for Beginners

  • Always set a stop-loss to keep each loss within acceptable limits
  • Don't trade with your full balance; keep sufficient margin
  • Don't exceed 5x leverage
  • Don't chase rallies or panic sell; trade with a plan
  • Practice on the demo account first
